CLARE WORLD MUSIC FESTIVAL GETS EVEN BETTER!!

After seven glorious festivals featuring some of the biggest names in world music, the CWMF organisers pulled off another musical coup with a fabulous all-day show that had an audience of 2000 bopping in the usually tranquil grounds of the beautiful Clare Country Park, on one of the few Saturdays in July when it didn't rain.
A revised layout in the park bought the Festival a much heralded "new look" and the additional stalls, food outlets and craft stands produced the air of a refreshed event.

The sponsors' tent proved to be a great success and we are hugely grateful to those companies, large and small, local and regional, who dug deep into their pockets to make the day financially viable.

To everyone who bought tickets, spread the word, brought friends along, came and enjoyed themselves, cleared up their rubbish and left peacefully - Thank you.

We have put together some photos from the festival on the next few pages which you can access from the links on the left.

John Otway Presentation
A
fter John Otway and the Big Band played the 2004 festival, John, a great supporter of the festival, allowed us to record his set and gave permission for it to be released on CD towards funds for future festivals. As if that wasn't enough in itself, he sent us a recording of the gig the band played the next day at Putney. This is completely different material, and so we included it in full on a second disk.  'You Put It There..' became the first Otway 'bootleg' and sales have been steady throughout the year, and finally topping 50 shortly before the festival.

Richard receiving a 'Cardboard Disc' award from Paul Cooper

To celebrate this landmark event in music history, we awarded John and the band their first 'cardboard disk'.  Unfortunately John couldn't make it, but Richard Holgarth, the Big Bands' lead guitarist, graciously accepted it before moonlighting on stage with Eddie and the Hotrods.

The CD is still available exclusively on the festival website. For more details click here.
